WE ARE ACA CERTIFIED FACILITY, WHICH IS THE AMERICAN CAMPING ASSOCIATION. WE'VE JUST RECEIVED OUR CURRENT, REEVALUATION FOR THAT. AND WE ARE NOW CERTIFIED FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. THE CAMP RELIES ON EVENTS AND FUNDRAISERS, AS WELL [00:10:03] AS THE GENEROSITY OF THE PUBLIC, TO CONTINUE TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR COMMUNITY. WHEN POSSIBLE. OUR VOLUNTEERS ALSO SEEK OUT GRANTS AND STATE PROGRAMS THAT WILL BENEFIT THE CAMP FACILITY PROVIDES A PLACE FOR YOUR YOUTH TO LEARN AND GROW. THE MISSION OF THE HARFORD COUNTY FOUR-H CLUBS, INC. IS TO SUPPORT THE HARFORD COUNTY FOUR-H PROGRAM THROUGH ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THE HARFORD COUNTY FOUR-H CLUBS, INC. AGAIN, OUR CAMP HISTORY AS WE CURRENTLY HAVE 182 ACRE PIECE OF PROPERTY WHICH WAS TRANSFERRED TO HARFORD COUNTY, FOUR-H CLUBS ON JULY 9TH. I WAS ONE DAY OFF 1925. THIS WAS THE START OF THE HARFORD COUNTY FOUR-H CAMP AT THE ROCKS AND THE FOUR-H. THE FIRST FOUR-H CAMP WAS HELD THAT YEAR. THE CAMP IS THE OLDEST FOUR-H CAMP IN MARYLAND, AND ONE OF THE OLDEST CONTINUOUS USE FOUR-H CAMPS IN THE COUNTRY. WE DO HAVE AN ACTIVE TREE FARM OF 150 ACRES ADJACENT TO THE ROCK STATE PARK AND DEER CREEK, AND WE WERE AWARDED THE HARFORD COUNTY TREE FARM OF THE YEAR MULTIPLE TIMES. THE OLDEST STRUCTURE CURRENTLY ON THE PROPERTY IS THE SPRING HOUSE. THE KEY FALL FOR FAMILY LED THE EFFORT TO BUILD THE FIRST LARGE CAMP BUILDING, WHICH STILL STANDS TODAY AND IS USED AS A STORAGE BUILDING. IT WAS ORIGINALLY A DORMITORY FOR BOTH OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS CAMPS, AND ANOTHER BUILDING WAS BUILT LATER ON, CURRENTLY KNOWN AS THE KRAFT BUILDING. ROCKS LODGE WAS BUILT IN 1950 AND SERVED AS THE CAMP DINING HALL UNTIL THE DEER CREEK OVERLOOK WAS BUILT IN 2008. DEER CREEK OVERLOOK CURRENTLY SERVES AS OUR CAMP DINING HALL. THE SWIMMING POOL ORIGINALLY SPRING FED AND LOCATED WHERE THE CURRENT DALTON PAVILION STANDS, WAS MOVED TO ITS CURRENT LOCATION IN 1960 AND IT WAS RENOVATED IN 2018. THE CARETAKER'S HOME WAS ADDED ON A SEPARATE PARCEL OF LAND IN THE LATE 60S. IT SHARES A DRIVEWAY WITH THE FOUR-H CAMP. THE CAMP CARETAKER RESIDES HERE AND WATCHES OVER THE CAMP WHILE ASSISTING WITH THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF CAMP AND CAMP MAINTENANCE. THE CAMP SERVED AS THE LOCATION FOR THE HARFORD COUNTY FOUR-H FAIR FROM 1961 TO 1987. THE FAIR UTILIZED THE BUILDINGS AND PAVILIONS. THE DORMITORIES SERVED AS THE INDOOR EXHIBIT HALL AND THE DINING HALL SERVED MEALS TO THE FAIR ATTENDEES. THE CURRENT FERNCLIFF PAVILION WAS A SHOW RING WITH A DIRT FLOOR AND THE CURRENT ARCHERY PAVILION SERVED AS HOUSING FOR LIVESTOCK. THERE WAS A WHITE WOODEN FENCE UNDER THE WALNUT TREES NEAR THE SHOW PAVILION FOR TYING LARGER LIVESTOCK. THE OPEN FIELD NEAR THE MAIN ENTRANCE ALSO HAD A WHITE BOARD FENCE, SHOW RING. AIR FACILITIES OF DEER CREEK OVERLOOK IS CLIMATE CONTROLLED. IT IS AN EVENT VENUE THAT WE AND A BANQUET HALL, IT IS A CONFERENCE ROOM ALSO WITHIN THE BUILDING. IT INCLUDES BANQUET HALL FOR UP TO 240 GUESTS, A CONFERENCE ROOM FOR 45 PEOPLE, AND A COMMERCIAL KITCHEN WITH THE CATERERS OF YOUR CHOICE AND RESTROOMS. WE HAVE 265 PERSON CAMPING AND 132 PERSON CAPACITY. WE HAVE SHOWERS AND RESTROOMS ATTACHED TO THE ADJACENT OF EACH. OTHER OUTDOOR EVENTS INCLUDE HARFORD COUNTY FOUR-H CAMP, COUNSELOR WEEKENDS, CECIL COUNTY FOUR-H CAMP COUNSELOR WEEKENDS, GIRL SCOUT TROOP WEEKENDS, MARYLAND FOUR-H ENGINEERING CAMP CLUB MEETINGS, HARFORD COUNTY FOUR-H MEAL APPEAL, HARFORD COUNTY ACHIEVEMENT NIGHT, AND HARFORD COUNTY FOUR-H RALLY DAY. DOZENS OF PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN IN THIS COUNCIL MEETING AND SENT CORRESPONDENCE TO THE CURRENT AND PREVIOUS COUNTY EXECUTIVES AND THEIR STAFFS TO OPPOSE WAREHOUSES ON THE MITCHELL FARM, DESPITE ALL THE KNOWN OPPOSITION TO MEGA WAREHOUSES ON THE MITCHELL FARM. IN AUGUST 2022, CRAIG QUIETLY CHANGED THE PLAN TO MAKE THE MEGA WAREHOUSES 66% TALLER. THEY WENT FROM 40FT TO 65FT HIGH. THE VOLUME OF THE MEGA WAREHOUSES INCREASED BY 130,000,000 CUBIC FEET. THAT PLAN IS STILL POSTED TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING WEBSITE. IT WAS NOT ANNOUNCED NOR DISCUSSED WITH THE NEIGHBORS. THE PERRYMAN COMMUNITY, NOR THE COUNCIL. THE OLD XPO LOGISTICS BUILDING ON CHELSEA ROAD IS STILL VACANT SINCE LAST YEAR, AFTER THE LOSS OF THE 170 JOBS FROM THE ENTIRE BUILDING BEING LAID OFF. THERE'S ANOTHER VACANT 650 SQUARE FOOT MEGA WAREHOUSE ON 500 OLD POST ROAD THAT CBR E HAS ON THE MARKET RIGHT NOW. IT'S WILD TO THINK THAT, I CAN SAY YEARS AGO, BUT AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF OUR TIME ON THE COUNCIL TOGETHER, AND MY CONCERNS OVER THOSE AND MY PREDICTION THEN THAT WE ARE GOING TO HEAR ABOUT IT MORE AND MORE IN OUR WATER SUPPLY, AND WE'RE GOING TO HEAR MORE AND MORE FROM THE EPA ABOUT IT, AND NOW THAT'S HAPPENING TWO YEARS LATER, I JUST THINK WE AS A COUNCIL NEED TO BE AWARE OF THAT. WE NEED TO BE LOOKING AT WHAT OTHER COUNTIES ARE DOING, FOR INSTANCE, PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, SUING THE MANUFACTURERS OF THOSE CHEMICALS TO HELP PAY FOR INFRASTRUCTURE TO GET IT OUT OF THEIR WATER SUPPLY AND TAKE SERIOUSLY THE IDEA OF PROTECTING OUR DRINKING WATER, A FEW THINGS. EVERYONE'S VERY BUSY OVER THE SUMMER, AND I WON'T SAY EVERYTHING I DID, OR ELSE IT WILL BE SUMMER AGAIN. BUT, I DID GET TO ATTEND THE LEGISLATIVE BLACK CAUCUS TOWN HALL THAT HAPPENED THIS SUMMER, WHICH IS THE FIRST TIME THE LEGISLATIVE BLACK CAUCUS HAS EVER COME TO HARFORD COUNTY, WHICH WAS A REALLY, YOU KNOW, HISTORICAL MOMENT AND COOL TO BE A PART OF. I ALSO GOT TO ATTEND THE GROUNDBREAKING FOR THE NEW FIRE STATION COMING TO BELCAMP, A LONG PROMISED FIRE STATION THAT'S FINALLY COMING. AND IT WAS REALLY EXCITING TO BE THERE WITH THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT, AND CELEBRATE THAT. AND THEN ALSO JUST WANT TO UPDATE AS BOARD OF ED LIAISON, I'VE BEEN AGAIN ADVOCATING NOW FOR YEARS FOR HARFORD COUNTY TO CHANGE THEIR READING CURRICULUM, TO ONE THAT MATCHES BEST PRACTICES AND KNOWN SCIENCE OF HOW CHILDREN LEARN. WHEN YOU GET READING RIGHT. THAT'S THE FIRST STEP TO GETTING EVERYTHING ELSE RIGHT, AND ADVOCATING AT THE STATE LEVEL, THE STATE BOARD OF ED HAS NOW INTRODUCED, POLICY THAT WOULD REQUIRE COUNTIES LIKE HARFORD COUNTY TO CHANGE THEIR READING CURRICULUM WITH OUR NEW STATE SUPERINTENDENT PUSHING FOR THAT, AND THEY'LL BE WORKING THROUGH THAT IN THE NEXT MONTH. SO WE SHOULD KNOW BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER ON IF THAT PASSES OR NOT. AND IF IT DOES, WE SHOULD BE SEEING SOME PRETTY DRAMATIC CHANGE IN HARFORD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AS FAR AS WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED IN THE CLASSROOM TO TEACH CHILDREN HOW TO READ. SO THAT'S VERY EXCITING. A LOT OF YEARS OF PROGRESS PUSHING FOR THAT AND TO SEE THAT COME TO FRUITION, AND THEN THE LAST UPDATE FROM MY OFFICE IS COME MARCH, I'LL BE A DAD. I THINK THAT WE WERE ALL THERE, BUT IT WAS GOOD TO GO TO JOPPATOWNE HIGH SCHOOL, MAGNOLIA MIDDLE, AND DEERFIELD ELEMENTARY. AND THEN ON A PERSONAL NOTE, I WANT TO, RECOGNIZE MY GRANDSON, JAKE, WAS ABLE TO START SCHOOL AGAIN TODA, SO WE'RE REALLY PLEASED WITH THAT, IT'S GOING TO BE HIT AND MISS THINGS. SCHOOL IN HOUSE.
